Nanni Diesel Profile
NANNI-INDUSTRIES, who supply original equipment engines for many Jeanneau craft including Sun Odyssey Yachts and Merry Fisher pleasure boats, have announced an exclusive and long term marinisation agreement with the TOYOTA, the third largest worldwide car manufacturer.
The first result of that new collaboration will be a 129 KW (175 HP) based on the TOYOTA Landcruiser new generation engine.
In addition to Jeanneau, Nanni now supply marine engines to Bénéteau, Fountain Pajot, CIM, Hunter-UK and Dufour. In 2000 Nanni Diesel sold around 3,000 engines, twice the amount it sold in 1997 and sales are up 47 per cent in France alone.
Originally an Italian company, based in Rome it began in 1952 marinising
Faryman engines. Later production was supplemented by additional plants in the Netherlands and France. In 1982 the French plant began marinising Mercedes and Kubota engines. Later MAN engines were added to the range for larger units.
Ownership changed in1989 with the acquisition by the Festa family. In 1991 the manufacturing facilities in Italy and the Netherlands were closed, with La Teste, Bordeaux becoming the exclusive site.
A full Nanni Diesel profile was published International Boat Industry in August 2000.
