Inner Forestay Installation SO34.2
Several people asked for details of my inner forestay. Here are the pictures. The top is fixed 300 mm down from the normal forestay. As
you can see it stores by the starboard front chain plate and has an adjustable pelican hook. The fixing when in use is mounted on the GRP sloping down into the anchor locker and a strop takes up the length difference.
The strop is about 300 mm long. This keeps it parallel to the forestay. The panel didn't look strong enough so I reinforced it with a stainless steel plate assembly.
I cannot guarantee that this is strong enough and can take no liability if you replicate this idea.
So far it has been used coastal in an F8 and offshore in a F7 with 3 to 4 metre very short sharp waves and it still looks good.
I would be willing to make drawings of the parts if anybody wishes.
