Sun Odyssey 37 Adarin

Review of Sun Odyssey 37 as at 22 June 2004.

Adarin originally purchased 1/8/2003 and so is coming up to a year old.

Adarin is a shallow draft SO37, with 3 cabin + salon layout, 40 hp Volvo / 3 blade prop. ( currently clocked approx 100 hours )

Extras included webasto heating, holding tank, gas kicker, cruising chute, spinnaker gear, cockpit speakers, gas alarm system, upgraded cooker / oven / grill and dsc radio

We have since added a Raymarine C70 radar / plotter, which is a great improvement on the standard Interphase plotter, which is still in action at the chart table and also a spinnaker.

Adarin is predominantly weekend cruised on the East Coast with plans for Holland later this year.

Problems to note -

Generally we are very pleased with the boat and the excellent after sales service provided by Clarke and Carter Interyacht of Burnham.

Slight engine problem at delivery time was soon remedied by Volspec of Tollesbury ( adjusting nut on rocker arm not tightened causing valves to stick )

Locker to turn off gas supply to cooker will not open ( panel needs slight modification to allow it to open )

The sheets for adjusting the mainsheet traveller located on the coach roof are both 1 metre too short. Consequently, when the mainsheet traveller is let right out and is under load, there is not enough sheet on the windward side to get around the coach roof mounted winches and pull back against the force = frustrating.

I would consider adding adjusters to the genoa sheet travellers also.

Other than these very minor aspects we are, to date, pleased with Adarin and of our purchase through Clarke and Carter.
