Poupon
Jeanneau has joined forces with Philippe Poupon, sailor and ocean
racer, in the "Fleur Australe II" project, a 19m sailboat especially
designed for ocean voyages in the Southern Ocean, with the mission to
explore factors concerning the global environment.
In his new role, Philippe will once again become technical consultant to
Jeanneau. Recently, during sea trials of the new Sun Odyssey 45, he was able to bring valuable insight, from the point of view of an experienced sailor, in
regards to long-term ocean cruising .
Also, Philippe will be contributing to a special column in the new Jeanneau owner's newsletter. He will be giving specific advice about safety on board.
This alliance builds upon earlier liaison between Poupon and Jeanneau
when Philippe Poupon's claimed victory in Jeanneau built "Fleury Michon IX"
classic 1988 C-Star event.
He also acted as technical adviser in the late 1990's in the development of the Philippe Briand designed Sun Fast 36.
