The Sun Odyssey 49DS will be the official support sailboat for the Transquadra Solo
For the upcoming 5th annual Transquadra Solo sailboat race, the Jeanneau shipyard will be supplying a prestigious chase boat, the new Sun Odyssey 49 DS, to follow the fleet during the entire length of the world's biggest Transatlantic race.
This Atlantic crossing event, reserved for a specific crew category (40 years and older) and limited to production boats, is dedicated to amateurs from all over who like to race for fun.
This international transatlantic race already has registered more than 85 entries for this year's event, with 25 solo skippers as well as 60 two-crew vessels.
The starting line is set for July 31, 2005 in St Nazaire, France for a first leg to Madeira, Portugal and then on January 29, 2006 a final leg from Madeira to Martinique, a total race distance of over 3 900 nautical miles!
The Sun Odyssey 49 DS, designed by Philippe Briand and Vittorio Garroni, was selected for its bluewater ocean cruising qualities.
Jeanneau, building boats with the soul of a sailor, will be at the heart of the action to witness this historic maritime event.
